Disabling Driver Signature Enforcement

Instructions on how to disable driver signature enforcement for Windows 10.

Follow the steps below to disable driver signature enforcement for Windows 10. (for many of the instruments CI-110, CI-600, CI-602, CI-710, F-920, F-940, F-950, F-960 etc)

  • Click the Start menu and select Settings .
  • Click Update and Security .
  • Click on Recovery .
  • Click Restart now under Advanced Startup .
  • Click Troubleshoot .
  • Click Advanced options .
  • Click Startup Settings .
  • Click on Restart .
  • On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement. Often driver signature verification needs to be disabled on the computer, so that you can install the driver software ci-110_windows_driver_signature_verification.pdf (cid-inc.com) Windows Driver Signature Verification For Windows 8 and all 64 bit Windows operating systems, the driver signature verification will need to be disabled before the CI-110 driver can be installed. This will allow an unsigned driver to be installed in Windows. A keyboard is required for this procedure (not a touchscreen keyboard on a tablet).
  • Press the Win + C keyboard combination to bring up the Charms Bar, then click on the Settings Charm.
  • Click on the Change PC settings link and access the Modern Control Panel.
  • When the Control Panel opens, select the “Update & recovery” section.
  • Next, click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.
  • Once selected, you will see an advanced startup section appear on the right hand side. You will need to click on the “Restart now” button.
  • Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option. 7. Then head into Advanced options.
  • Then Startup Settings.
  • Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.
  • Now you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key. This will require a keyboard as the touchscreen keyboard cannot be accessed while in Windows Bios. 
  • Finally, reboot the PC and install unsigned drivers.
