CI-710s (SpectraVue) Measurement Modes
Describes the measurement modes of the CI-710s (SpectraVue)
This article describes the measurement modes of the CI-710s (SpectraVue)
Date: 09-28-2021 Applies to SpectraVue Version 0.9.36.0 and above.
The CI-710s has three measurement modes: Reflectance, Transmittance and Absorbance. Reflectance is measured directly with the bottom lamp and internal optics. The light is reflected off the sample and focused onto the detector through the internal optics. The light captured by the detector is resolved against the reference calibration standard and reported in percent. Possible values range from 0% to 100%. Transmittance is measured directly with the top lamp and internal optics. The light passing through the sample is measured by the detector and resolved against the transmittance calibration and reported in percent. Possible values range for 0% to 100%.
Absorbance is measured indirectly and is calculated from the Reflectance and Transmittance calibrated results with the simplified formula (2 – log10(transmittance + reflectance) . Absorbance is reported in OD (Optical Density) from 0 to 3. Where 0 = no absorbance, 1 = 90% absorbance, 2 = 99% absorbance, 3 = 99.9 absorbance. Scope mode is a representation of the actual voltage generated by the spectrometer. This mode is available for Reflectance or Transmittance measurements and is enabled by selecting “Display Live Measurement” in the Graph menu.
The displayed data is the A/D converter output and is represented in counts ranging from 0 - 65535. The output for firmware version 0.9.38.0 and above is capped at 30000 counts to improve spectrometer performance. This data can be used/viewed to manually adjust integration times if the Auto Integration feature is not adequate for the desired application.
