CI-710s SpectraVue Data File Description

Describes the purpose and function of the data files generated by the CI-710s

This article describes the four data files generated by the CI-710s (SpectraVue)

Applies to SpectraVue Version 0.9.36.0 and above.

Description: The Export feature of the CI-710s creates a variety of folders and files. The folders contain the SpectraVue data files created from measurements taken on the instrument. The ExportedFiles folder contains the data from each measurement/scan while the remaining directories and the four .xml files in the root folder contain setting and calibration information used by the instrument. The data can be accessed from the USB Flash Drive or Network Drive depending on where the data was exported to. The following is a brief explanation of each folder and file type.

These data files can be exported to the Network Drive, USB Drive or both. USB functionality is only available when a USB FLASH drive is inserted. All data files are exported in .csv (comma separated variable) format for easy importing into common spreadsheet and data manipulation programs. The designator in the data file name refers to a 17 digit number representing the date and time.

Example: The data directory is populated with the following folders and files: Exceptions Folder: The Exceptions folder contains log files created by the instrument for debugging purposes. ExportedFiles Folder: The ExportedFiles folder contains four files from each export event. Calculations.csv: This file contains the calculations, if any, setup on the instrument at the time of export. CalibrationData.csv: This file is created when a calibration is performed on the instrument. The data is created once for each calibration and allows the user to view the dark and light calibration values used by SpectraVue when performing a measurement. Measurements.csv: This is the calibrated date collected from each measurement. Reflectance and Transmittance are reported as percent, 0 = black, 100% = white. Absorbance is reported as OD (Optical Density) and is calculated from the resulting reflectance and transmittance measurement.

Each measurement is given a time stamp and associated tag (if used) and a measured/calibrated measurement value at each wavelength. This is the data most useful to the average user. RawMeasurmentsData.csv: This is the raw/uncalibrated data reported by the spectrometer and is displayed in ADC counts. The XMLCalculations folder: This folder contains the schema in .xml format used by the instrument to perform calculations for each selected calculation.

The XmlMeasurements folder: This folder contains the schema in .xml format that the instrument uses to store and draw each measurement. ApplicationSettings.xml: This file contains the setting used by SpectraVue and is loaded when the unit is powered on. BakApplicationSettings.xml: Backup of the ApplicationSettings.xml file CalibrationSettings.xml: This file contains data from the most recent calibration and is used by SpectraVue to calibrate each measurement.
